Zondag 26 november a.s. vult D’n Hiemel zich vanaf 16.00 uur met Ierse-, Schotse- en Engelse folkmuziek van de Schotse zangeres Helen Flaherty die zich voor dit concert verzekerd heeft van de steun van de gerenommeerde Vlaamse gitarist Philip Masure en de multi-instrumentalist Siard de Jong.
De Helen Flaherty Band brengt een programma met Ierse en Schotse muziek, met meerstemmige zang, viool, fluit, cittern, gitaar en bodhran. Traditionele en hedendaagse zang en melodieën, met zowel frisse als vernieuwende arrangementen.

Helen is een Schotse zangeres en bodhranspeler, woonachtig in Antwerpen. Haar repertoire bestaat uit zowel traditionele als recente composities in de traditionele trant. Ze bracht een solo-cd uit Oft Times I've Been Cheery. Helen is ook lid van de Iers/Schotse groep Shantalla en heeft getoerd en opgenomen met tal van (inter)nationale muzikanten.

Philip Masure
Hoewel Philip een aantal instrumenten bespeelt, is hij vooral bekend als (open tuning-)gitarist. Nam op en speelde bij tal van bands, waaronder Laïs, Orion, Carlene Anglim (winnaar BBC2 Young Tradition Award), Fling en de internationale band Comas. Hij doceert over de hele wereld en is een veelgevraagd studiomuzikant (ruim 100 albums) en producer (20 albums).

Siard De Jong
Siard begon zijn muzikale carrière op 14-jarige leeftijd. Omdat hij in het begin een tenorbanjo- en mandolinespeler was, veranderde zijn focus al snel naar de viool, cittern en zang. Na zijn verhuizing naar Amsterdam speelde hij met talloze muzikanten op talloze locaties in het “folkcircuit”. Hij is ook actief lid van Fling (NL-B), The Wellwishers (IRL) en Clementine (NL).

Helen is a Scottish singer and bodhran player, living in Antwerp. Her repertoire consists of both traditional and recent compositions in the traditional style. She released a solo CD Oft Times I've Been Cheery. Helen is also a member of the Irish/Scottish group Shantalla and has toured and recorded with numerous (inter)national musicians.

Although Philip plays a number of instruments, he is best known as an (open tuning) guitarist. Recorded and played with numerous bands including Laïs, Orion, Carlene Anglim (BBC2 Young Tradition Award winner), Fling and the international band Comas. He teaches all over the world and is a sought-after studio musician (over 100 albums) and producer (20 albums).

Siard started his musical career at the age of 14. Initially a tenor banjo and mandolin player, his focus soon changed to the violin, cittern and singing. After moving to Amsterdam he played with countless musicians at numerous locations in the “folk circuit”. He is also an active member of Fling (NL-B), The Wellwishers (IRL) and Clementine (NL).
